Erickson G. Backus’ name is on the Original Honor Roll list of men who were in the service during The Great War, which appeared in The Evening Record on October 5, 1918.

We do not know the branch of service or where
Erickson G. Backus served during the war at this time. What we do know from records is that he was born on
December 19, 1893.

He entered Fairmount School on September 9, 1909 and lived on 32 Euclid Avenue at the time. He left school in June of 1909 apparently at the end of the school year probably to work.
